Day 1 to Niagara: Rain, flat tires, rain, nutella pizza, rain
After a long train trip we arrived in Buffalo around 9:30 a.m. We retrieved our bikes and proceeded to get ready to ride. From the first moments we were riding in a light rain. Though it continued to rain on and off all day, the temperature was warm so we were comfortable, though soggy. We had a nice ride through Buffalo and found the Peace Bridge without difficulty. It's a long walk across the bridge--no riding--but also exhilarating. Once in Canada, most of our ride was on very quiet roads or bike paths along the water. We found a little restaurant for a break in the afternoon. What should be on the menu but Nutella Pizza. Of course we had to try it. Shortly after we left the restaurant, Sandy had a flat tire. After we fixed it we proceeded to our night's lodging in Niagara without incident--that is until we arrived. The office was closed with a note on the door.
